Team Velociracers' record breaking performance at SAE-NIS Efficycle 2019

We are glad to share with you all that team Velocirarcers of College of Engineering Pune (COEP) achieved grand success at the National level Efficycle 2019 competition held during 1st to 5th October 2019 at Lovely Professional University, Jalandhar, Punjab, organized by SAENIS and hosted by Lovely Professional University, Jalandar.


This National competition conducted in the domain of Hybrid Vehicle provides opportunity to the students to ideate, design and fabricate a three wheel configuration vehicle powered by human-electric hybrid power and capable of seating two passengers catering to the day to day mobility needs. The vehicle must be aerodynamic, engineered for performance & safety and ergonomically designed. The objective of this National championship is to promote innovation and generate consciousness amongst the young engineers towards environment friendly mobility solution.

 

     

 

 

Efficycle 2019 witnessed a great footfall this year too, 81 teams competed in the finals. This was the 10th anniversary of Efficycle, and for the first time they had declared two formats, namely the Conventional Format, and the Advanced Format. This was the Technological Advancement Season of Efficycle with the theme 'Drive the Future'. While Conventional Format was the regular Efficycle with advanced technologies, while Advanced format expected the teams to design and market a commercially viable vehicle, incorporating various technological features. Velociracers was one of the two teams who participated in both the formats with two different vehicles. It was a record breaking success for the team when they finished as the National Champions in the Advanced format and the First Runner Ups in the Conventional format along with 8 other awards with a total cash prize of Rs. 2,10,000.

 

Following are the awards won by the team:

Advanced Format:

  1. Overall National Championship - Rs. 70000
  2. 1st in Advanced Technology - Rs. 15000
  3. 1st in Energy Regeneration - Rs. 10000
  4. 1st in Design - Rs. 15000
  5. Best Vehicle appearance - Rs. 10000

Conventional format:

  1. Overall 1st runner up - Rs. 60000
  2. 1st in Drive Excellence - Rs. 15000
  3. 1st in Marketing Presentation - Rs. 15000

Other Awards:

  1. Best Girl Participant award
  2. First team to clear Technical Inspection of vehicles, both Conventional and Advanced format

 

The team excelled under the student leadership of Vaibhav Gondchore for Advanced category and Navneet Punase for Conventional category under the guidance of Faculty Advisors Dr. P. R. Dhamangaonkar and Mr. S. N. Tapase respectively.
