Communications

The main objective of the communications system is to establish reliable bi-directional
communication between the satellite and ground station. The data rate should be sufficient
to downlink all collected data as well as uplink commands for orbit control. The
communication link should be reliable up to the maximum mission orbit height of 1500 km.

A full duplex communications protocol will be used to support higher throughput required
for CPM data. The protocol will be a modified version of the COEPSAT protocol used in
Swayam. Forward error correction will be used for both uplink and downlink packets.
