E-Fest'17 - 'Dream Dare Do'

CoEP’s ED-cell ushered in the 6th edition of E-FEST on the 8th and 9th of April 2017. This year’s theme ‘Dream Dare Do’ exemplified the founding principles of ED-cell that aims to evolve the concept of entrepreneurship among students.

The fest began on the morning of 8th with an inaugural ceremony addressed by the faculty advisor Prof. Mrs. Madhuri Karnik. From the city of dreams, came our very own ‘Mumbai Dabbawalas’ who shared their captivating journey of a simple service turning into a worldwide acknowledged trade. The first keynote for the fest, Mr. Shantanu Guha Ray, the award winning investigative journalist.

Day 2 of E-FEST began with a tales writing workshop conducted by Anuj Gosalia, co-founder of Terribly Tiny Tales. The workshop proved to be a great crowd puller as Anuj drew many ‘ohs’ and ‘awws’ from the audience as he presented some of their terribly beautiful tiny tales.

Hackathon, the well-known 24-hour coding event had a twist to it: the participants did not have to only code but also come up with a business plan to show the feasibility of their solution. ConWINce, as the name suggests, was a negotiation challenge wherein the contestants had to defend their marketing strategies by stepping into the shoes of a businessman. Decode it: The case study competition aimed to test the participants’ business/research prowess by providing them a real-life business case. So you think you can sell was a selling event with challenging prospects like selling ice to an eskimo!

Bull Run made the contestants fight with stocks to realise their dream of becoming the ‘Wolf of the Wall Street’. BidMaster led you to make your own IPL team while enjoying the experience of live auction. Imperio: the business quiz tested the knowledge of participants in the business world. Pitchers: Start-up investors pitching stage was a platform where you could showcase your revolutionary ideas for a start-up to a panel of investors. Hilarious Sales, saw participants use humorous sales tactics to sell a product. Tag-a-thon was a tagline competition where contests could show their creativity for coming up with unique taglines.

Scavengio : The treasure hunt had participants up to their neck in running around Pune looking for clues and places. Amidst all the profit-making talk, adding a social touch to it was the NGO challenge that gave challenging social issues pertaining to women’s safety.

The cherry on the cake for this year’s E-fest was the newly built Bhau Institute building with its fully fledged and modernized auditorium and conference rooms. Needless to say, E-fest 17’ proved to be an unprecedented success and left everyone looking forward to its next edition eagerly.
