VICTOR PROJECT OF B.TECH ELECTRICAL

This year, the technical team of our Electrical department won the ‘Best Student Project’ award by the reputed company, TCS for their ambition project ‘Micro-Grid’. The talented team was awarded a certificate, a medal and also a whooping cash prize of Rs. 20,000.

Project Micro Grid was a student initiative by the electrical department of COEP. A total of 12 students from B.Tech and 2 T.Y students worked on it since 2014.The main driving aim of the team was the harnessing of power from renewable sources and its effective as well as efficient utility for driving both AC and DC loads according to requirement. The system harnessed solar power, stored it, converted it again to AC form, and injected it into the national grid for its wide usage.

The students have also published nine papers till date in the IEEE conferences held about the proposed system. Currently the team is striving to improve the system by making it more robust and increasing its efficiency. The project will continue to be a research platform for interested students.
