Shanghai: Educon is the annual education seminar organised by Sakal Media Group. This year, being the 8th meeting, a delegation of over 60 educationists from India gathered in Shanghai on Sunday. Prataprao Pawar, chairman, Sakal Media Group set the ball rolling urging the gathered intelligentsia to come up with innovative methods to tackle the pressing problems in education in order to take India ahead in the global scenario. ‘Think globally, act locally’ was the main focus of the conference.
Dr. Anil Sahasrabudhe contributed to the discussion by voicing his opinion towards a better India. According to him, most of the pass out students from the IITs would initiate to go foreign companies or progress towards setting up their own businesses. This contributes to the potential decrease in India’s global position. He recommended that for due reasons, around 50-60 colleges in India should be given the status that equal to the IITs. This would enable better implementation for a better India.
COEP, being an autonomous institute, has progressed constructively. Dr. Sahasrabudhe identified highlights of COEP, such as increased PhD graduates from the college, weekly meetings of the board members for constant evaluation and increasing productivity hence proposing a potential of the college to be regarded equivalent to IIT.
Dr. Sahasrabudhe also recognized Mr. Pawar’s assistance to the college and due to whom the college had saved substantial amount of capital and utilized it for the better.
